When choosing cleaning and personal care products, there are certain things you will want to avoid.  For instance, do not use any product that contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate.  It is described as a skin irritant, in clinical studies.  In children, exposure to this chemical can prevent the eyes from developing properly.  In adults, it can cause Cataracts.

It can be harmful to the skin and hair and strips skin of it's protection, causing rashes and irritation.  Also, this chemical is a contributing factor in the development of certain forms of Cancer.

Because this chemical is found in so many products, what I usually do is read all the labels.  In certain instances, I've resorted to using common dish-washing liquid, in order to avoid exposure to this chemical.  There are several wonderful soaps on the market that do not contain this chemical.  Simply read the labels and be conscious of what you are buying and putting on your skin and hair.

For the moment, I've been resorting to the use of Liquid Soap like Dawn and other kinds used to clean dishes. However, I always read the labels so that I am certain they do not contain toxins.
