This name is usually, and wrongly, written in most English translations of the Bible as, "Jesus Christ".
"Jesus Christ" does not exist and never did.
Throughout the Hebrew text (other copies exist in Greek, which I will address later in this explanation), the man that is described by anyone using this "name" is properly referred to as "Yeshua, the Messiah" or even, "the Messiah, Yeshua". Jesus is not Hebrew, but Greek. Yeshua is his proper name and means, "to rescue; to deliver" and can also be translated, figuratively, as "he who saves" or 'savior'.
In Greek, Yeshua is written as, Yesu, which in English became Jesus. It was intended to carry the same meaning as that of the Hebrew, which it does. However, the man's proper first name is, "Yeshua," not "Jesus".
Messiah comes from the Hebrew word Messiach, meaning, "Anointed One" (as in, being Anointed with Oil). Christ, in Greek, means the same thing.
The problem occurs with it having become very common both in and out of Church, for priests and others of the Bible-based faiths treating, "Jesus Christ" as if it is a legitimate name, with Jesus being a first name and Christ being given as a last name, even instructing people to pray "in the name of Jesus Christ."
Anyone praying to, or in the name of, "Jesus Christ" is only deluding themselves.
