71. The lame can ride horses, the handless drive cattle; the deaf one

can fight and prevail.  It is better for the blind than for him on the

bale-fire, but no man cares for a corpse.

No matter what physical or mental condition you are in, being alive is

better than being dead.

72. It is best to have a son even if he is born late and his father before

him is dead: seldom are stones on the wayside raised save by kinsmen

to kinsmen.

A son is good to have even if his father has died, because he can continue

the family line and work to support it.

73. Two are hosts against one, the tongue is the head's bane, beneath a

rough hide a hand may be hid; he is glad at nightfall who knows of his

lodging, short is the ship's berth, and changeful the autumn night,

much veers the wind before the fifth day and blows round yet more in

a month.

Always be mindful of the fact that when you are a guest in someone’s

house, they have advantages in arguments, so watch what you say.  They

can throw you out if you annoy them.  You should be glad that you have a

place to stay because the environment outside is ever changing and can be harsh.

74. He that learns nothing will never know how one is the fool of

another, for if one be rich another is poor and for that should he bear

no blame.

Do not feel guilty if you have more things than others you know.  Each

individual person is responsible for their life circumstances.  Do not allow

others to manipulate you into feeling sorry for them.

75. Cattle die and kinsmen die, you too soon must die, but one I

believe, never will die, -- fair fame of one who has earned.

Though people die, the pleasant memory they leave behind does not.

76. Cattle die and kinsmen die, you too soon must die, but one thing I

believe, never will die, -- the doom on each one dead.

Though people die, the pain they’ve caused others does not heal with their

death.

77. Full-stocked folds had the Fatling's sons, who bear now a beggar's

staff: brief is wealth, as the winking of an eye, most faithless ever of

friends.

It is unwise to make amassing wealth your top priority.

78. If haply a fool should find wealth or a woman's love: pride waxes

in him but never wisdom and onward he fares in his folly.

If an ignorant person finds wealth or love, he often wrongfully believes

himself to be better than those around him.

79. All will prove true that you ask of the runes -- those that are come

from the gods, which the high Powers wrought, and which Odin

painted: then silence is surely best.

The runes are a very potent and powerful system of Magick and you will

always get what you create with them.  You should, however, keep your

workings secret and not brag about them.
