Theoricus is from the Latin word meaning, “meditative; contemplative; speculative”.

In Hermeticism and Spiritual Alchemy, this degree corresponds to the second step in the Great Work, which is Dissolution.

According to the Kabala, this corresponds to the sphere of Yesod, the Foundation.  This is the Astral Plane, the realm of Images and Emotions.

The practical techniques the initiate should learn here are how to control the spiritual element of Water.  This also means learning to control the emotions and purify the subconscious.  Start attuning yourself to Nature, the Universe and the Elements. In Our Tradition, this is done by performing two rituals: The Four Adorations of Ra and The Four Adorations of Seshat. Additionally, he or she is to begin keeping a Dream Diary, if this is not already being done, and a normal mundane diary or personal journal. These are in addition to the magickal diary begun at the former degree.  These are to be studied together, as they will yield personal knowledge about your own personality and psyche.
