Kenites mean material possessions, and signify the animalistic thoughts that hold Materialism in high regard.
22 nevertheless Kain shall be wasted. How long shall Asshur take you away captive?"
Kain means acquisition, and signifies the ego-consciousness that denies\kills the religious impulse or the ability to perceive Spiritual Truth.
23 And he took up his discourse, and said, "Alas, who shall live when God does this?
24 But ships shall come from Kittim and shall afflict Asshur and Eber; and he also shall come to destruction."
Kittim means, the rejected and ships from there signify attempts to reject the recognition of true freedom, and the true origin of Man as a unified Spirit, soul, and Body (Asshur) and the whole process of enlightenment (Eber).

These lands and peoples translated from the Aramaic mean carnal and physical, emotional sense consciousness, warlike, material possessions, blackness and the region beyond, respectively. All of these levels of consciousness must be overcome if we are to progress spiritually.
