21 So YHVH Gods caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh;

A limited concept of YHVH Gods caused a deep sleep (mesmeric state) to fall on the man (Adam).  In this state he creates a world of his own and peoples it with ideas corresponding to his own sleep-benumbed consciousness.

22 and the rib which YHVH Gods had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.

The soul is here coming into the positive development of divine love (the woman). Love is the passive quality of mind and must become active through man's volition, before it can be brought forth; and man must enter into the passive side of Being and cease from outer mental activity.  This state is symbolized by "deep sleep"; the outer consciousness is quiet, allowing the spiritual to express itself fully. This is the intuitive mind, or soul.

23 Then the man said, "This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."

The man recognizes the woman as his soul, the embodiment of his feminine principle.  He recognizes that she was born from his being and that he is the embodiment of the masculine principle or rational mind.  The Hebrew word from which "rib" is translated means "curved surface," not specifically one of Adam's ribs; rather, the curves of beauty innate in Adam. The development of Eve is a refining process that helps man to bring forth his divine feminine nature. The rib or bone that became woman is symbolical of the very substantial character of the love that she represents.

24 Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.

The reason that a man will leave his birth parents is to find himself, his soul, his place in the world.  Once he finds it, he will embrace it like a lost love and unite with it, identifying with it.  He is continuing the spiritual pattern that “He who is the collective forces of creation” started in finding a mate for him.  The only place the answers to such things can be found is in the same place that the woman was initially taken, within the Self.

25 And the man and his wife were both naked, and were not ashamed.

Because they recognized themselves and all creation as equal before “He who is the collective forces of creation”, they felt no need for extra clothes.  They were born naked and remained that way.  Naked here symbolizes purity of mind.  They saw no reason to add anything to themselves and were content with the way they were made.
