A Psalm of David.

YHVH is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;

He leadeth me beside still waters.

Green symbolizes spiritual rejuvenation.

He restoreth my soul:

He guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

The restoring of the soul is the harmonizing of subjective thoughts.  The paths of righteousness are the lines of communication between the various planes of existence: Spiritual, Mental, Astral and Physical.  In the Individual, these are the Spirit, Mind, Soul and Body.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me;

Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

The Valley of the Shadow of Death is the state of confusion that surrounds the ideas about death in most people.  Denying death, denouncing it as "evil" and reaffirming the presence of YHVH means acknowledging your own spiritual immortality, which comes from your connection to the Divine.  The Rod symbolizes Power and the Staff symbolizes Defense.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:

Thou hast anointed my head with oil;

My cup runneth over.

The prepared table symbolizes the omnipresent part of the Divine that is always with us.  The Anointing Oil symbolizes the Joy that is born from the Understanding of this Connection with the Divine.  Our overflowing cup symbolizes the eternal Joy and Connection we feel with the Divine.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;

And I shall dwell in the house of YHVH forever.

This is an affirmation that this Connection is eternal.

This Psalm (the bold type) is prayed for Spiritual Cleansing and Protection.
