1 "You shall not utter a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man, to be a malicious witness.
You are to be honest in all legal proceedings.
2 You shall not follow a multitude to do evil; nor shall you bear witness in a suit, turning aside after a multitude, so as to pervert justice;
3 nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his suit.
Follow your heart\conscience, not the crowd. Also, treat everyone equally, regardless of their financial situation.
4 "If you meet your enemy's ox or his ass going astray, you shall bring it back to him.
Doing something kind for an enemy, no matter how small, may bring a few more friends your way.
5 If you see the ass of one who hates you lying under its burden, you shall refrain from leaving him with it, you shall help him to lift it up.
Show kindness to all animals, regardless of who they belong to.
6 "You shall not pervert the justice due to your poor in his suit.
Do not sue someone else simply to attempt to get rich.
7 Keep far from a false charge, and do not slay the innocent and righteous, for I will not acquit the wicked.
Lying about someone else in the legal system will cause you negative consequences if you do it.
8 And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the officials, and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.
Do not allow yourself to be tempted with money in legal matters, because this behavior corrupt the whole legal system.
9 "You shall not oppress a stranger; you know the heart of a stranger, for you were strangers in the
If you know nothing about another person, you’ve no right to force him\her to obey your rules.
10 "For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield;
11 but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the wild beasts may eat. You shall do likewise with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard.
The purpose of allowing the land to rest every seventh year is to allow it to replenish it’s nutrients so that it can continue to support all life in the coming years.
12 "Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; that your ox and your ass may have rest, and the son of your bond-maid, and the alien, may be refreshed.
The purpose of your taking one day off from all manner of work a week is the same as that of giving the land a year’s rest. It is to give your system a chance to renew it’s energy and resources.
13 Take heed to all that I have said to you; and make no mention of the names of other gods, nor let such be heard out of your mouth.
The purpose of this particular law is to prevent the energy system from being corrupted by energies that the individual does not understand. Speaking the name of a spirit invokes that spirit’s energy into the mind of the speaker. In cases where the spirit is unknown to the individual, this can have negative consequences.
14 "Three times in the year you shall keep a feast to me.
Three is the number designating the three parts of the psyche. These are the mind, soul\subconscious, and body. The celebration of these three feasts symbolizes the practice that you are to perform: purification of these three things.
15 You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread; as I commanded you, you shall eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of
The feast of unleavened bread symbolizes the Hebrews freedom from the oppression of
16 You shall keep the feast of harvest, of the first fruits of your labor, of what you sow in the field.
You shall keep the feast of ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of your labor.
The feast of harvest symbolizes the presenting of your pure, spiritual nature. This means that you are to recognize it and agree to live life from this new perspective. That is, live life through spiritual consciousness. This consciousness is your “first born”. It is the consciousness you first held as a newborn child. The feast of ingathering is the celebration and expression of this new consciousness.
17 Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord, YHVH.
The males appearing before YHVH symbolize the reappearance of the spiritual consciousness through the active part of the mind. People (not just men), are supposed to consciously manifest the presence of Spirit through all that they do.
18 "You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread, or let the fat of my feast remain until the morning.
Offering sacrificial blood that contains leaven means sending impure spiritual energy to YHVH. This should never be done. Allowing the fat of this feast to remain until morning symbolizes Materialism and Greed. Morning is the awakening of spiritual consciousness. That part of this passage is a metaphorical way of saying, “Do not allow materialism and greed to corrupt you on any level.”
19 "The first of the first fruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of YHVH, your god. You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.
The first fruits of your work are the initial manifestations of spiritual consciousness within you that you will begin to express as your work continues. These are part of YHVH, and thus can be said to “belong to him”. Boiling a kid in it’s mother’s milk symbolizes holding on to old habits. The followers of YHVH are instructed not to do this.
20 "Behold, I send an angel before you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place which I have prepared.
The angel that is sent before you is the spiritual influence of the purification rituals you have been doing. It works to guide your consciousness toward Enlightenment.
